Sabbath Bulletin - Oct 11, 2025: What is God’s Purpose in Giving Us the Holy Spirit & the Pentecostal Experience

By Maui Kahului Seventh Day Adventist Church

Thank you for joining us this Sabbath! We extend a heartfelt "Aloha & Happy Sabbath," to all our members, visitors, & guests. We are thrilled to have you with us today this Sabbath.

Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity[a] he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Luke 11:5-13 NIV

Thought of the day

God gives us the Holy Spirit and the Pentecostal experience to empower and transform our lives. The Spirit renews our hearts, strengthens our faith, and equips us to share God’s love with others. In Luke 11:5-13, Jesus reminds us that our heavenly Father is eager to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. When we seek Him in prayer and open our hearts, He fills us with His presence, guiding us to live with purpose, unity, and joy.

Special Prayers:

We ask for your fervent prayers for the Bostanica family during this troubling time. Alexi & Iuliia have been on Maui since 10/2023 with their children Ian, Jasmine, & Celine. Even with documents confirming legal status in the US, including work permits, state-issued ID licenses & paying taxes to our government, etc. they received a letter from immigration services, & Alexi was taken into custody. For those that would like to support the family, there is a meal train to support Iullia & their children.
